Professional development programs

The Monash Science Centre's professional development programs aim to promote science as an important area of curriculum and assist primary and secondary teachers to enhance effective learning in science. Teachers are encouraged to; critically reflect on their own science teaching experiences, consider student learning in the context of specific curriculum content, discuss their expectations for students and explore 'successful' teaching practices in an attempt to identify the specific strengths of these approaches. All sessions attempt to provide teachers with the opportunity to consider alternative teaching and learning strategies so that classroom planning and teaching will provide meaningful, engaging activities and experiences for their students.

The Monash Science Centre provides a range of Professional Development programs which may be school based or located at a preferred venue. These sessions are designed to meet the specific needs as expressed by staff of participating schools.

Professional Development workshops, addressing specific topics, may also be offered throughout the year at the Monash Science Centre in Clayton. These sessions are advertised in the InScight! Newsletter and on this website.

All Professional Development sessions provide teachers with the opportunity to work with qualified and experienced presenters. Support materials are provided.
